Like many artists out there, I do a lot of planning and sketching before working, especially with larger works, and I use plenty of references to aid my character pieces as I continue to try to understand how bodies look and work. In many pieces, I aim to use brighter, eye-catching colors, but avoid problems like eye-strain or unpleasant color combinations. A majority of my work, being smaller and personal drawings, are usually done in a few hours; larger pieces can take from days to weeks depending on medium, size, and complexity.

A majority of what I draw involves characters, either from comics, shows, or my own, and they’re usually done without any/with little background work. Pieces other than drawings, like 3-D works, don’t take the forms of characters but instead take more abstract forms with some basis of shape or movement.

Most of the works that are visible online are inspired by my interest in comics, and my desire to tell stories with my own characters. I do have two portfolios from my time in high school, however, that are both inspired by my experiences with mental illness and trauma in my life, as well as my time in therapy. These both involve visual tellings of events from my own lifetime as well as those from the lives of people I know, or excerpts from people with these issues I’ve read/watched. I try to avoid indulging in this topic now as it isn’t a healthy or productive space to be in.
